About Fr. Christopher Waterhouse

The Rev’d Christopher Waterhouse is Rector of St James’ King Street, Sydney. Prior to his appointment, he served as Precentor and Chaplain for the Arts at St David’s Cathedral, Hobart. Born in the United Kingdom and raised and educated in Tasmania, Christopher developed an early passion for the performing arts, particularly theatre and music. He appeared in numerous stage productions across Tasmania before relocating to Sydney to work with the Sydney Theatre Company, and later moving to London where he worked at the St James’ Theatre. He subsequently left the theatre industry to work at Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, while undertaking ministry studies. Christopher returned to Australia in 2017 to become Director of the St James’ Institute. He has more than 25 years’ experience as a radio presenter in Hobart, London and Sydney, and has served on the boards of a range of philanthropic, church, education and arts organisations. These include the national board of the Anglican Board of Mission, the Council of St Andrew’s College, and 2MBS Fine Music Sydney.
